Northeast Colorado Board of Cooperative Educational Services recently announced that Tamara Durbin has been hired as Executive Director.  Durbin has been the Director of Special Education for Northeast BOCES for 20 years.  She has a strong reputation within member districts and across the State as one of the foremost experts in special education.

"We are thrilled that Tamara can bring her expertise and leadership experience into the Executive Director position and widen her influence over all aspects of our BOCES," stated Jay Wisdom, Northeast Colorado BOCES Board President.

Throughout her 20 years in this leadership position, and during her eight years of prior educational service, she has worked closely with parents, teachers and administrators to tackle difficult problems and increase the quality of services.  Under Durbin's leadership, the Northeast BOCES Special Education Administrative Unit is always among the top performers as measured by the State of Colorado.

"My interest in the Executive Director position for the Northeast Colorado BOCES is largely due to my interest in expanding my role beyond special education programs and services. I desire the opportunity to be innovative and to explore new opportunities in partnership with the BOCES Board and member school districts," says Durbin.  "I have invested nearly an entire professional career to the Northeast Colorado BOCES organization and it is an honor to continue my work in this new leadership role."

Durbin's contract will be officially ratified at the April 27 meeting of the Board of Directors.  A search for her current Director of Special Education position will begin immediately.
