NJC responds to conditions under Governor's stay-at-home order

Resumption of certain courses is on hold through April 11; residence halls to be vacated and most classes will resume via online/distance-learning technologies starting March 30

Northeastern Junior College is implementing a number of actions in response to this week’s executive order from Governor Jared Polis regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and stay-at-home requirements.

The following plans are in place:

• Most Northeastern classes will resume on Monday, March 30 as online, distance-learning courses and remain so through the end of the academic semester. No in-person, conventional classroom courses will be taught on or off campus for the remainder of the semester.

• Continuation of this semester’s career and technology education courses requiring a traditional on-campus component, including automotive, diesel, welding and wind program classes, are on hold and will be postponed until further notice. For these programs, Northeastern plans to resume these postponed classes when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

• With a limited number of exceptions, students in residence halls are moving home and will resume classes remotely. Students who qualify to remain on campus will be reassigned rooms to ensure social distancing compliance per the Governor’s directive.

• Northeastern’s Yuma, Colo. campus is now closed for the duration of the stay-at-home order.

• All on-campus events, including planned registration and discovery day events before April 11, are canceled.

• Registration for summer courses opened on March 26 and can be completed online.

• Registration for fall courses will open on April 8 and can be completed online.

• Only a limited number of essential personnel, as defined by the governor’s order, are allowed to work on campus. Only these personnel will have access to certain buildings and facilities on campus.

• The Bank of Colorado Event Center and the Monahan Learning Center will be closed for the duration of the order.
