THE HAXTUN Volunteer Fire Department entered Unit 211 into service last week. The truck comes from Industrial Welding and Supply in Sterling and can hold 2,000 gallons of water and has an 800 gallon per minute pump. Unit 211 is equipped with an auto inflate system on the wheels that allows fire personnel to deflate the tires for off-road and sandy conditions and then automatically re-inflate the wheels for highway use. The new unit is unlike any other fire apparatus the HVFD or any local department has ever had.

Unit 211 will replace Unit 22, which has been in service for over 45 years for the HVFD and is estimated to have fought close to 1,000 fires in its day.
