Richard Moon

Richard Charles Moon passed away on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at the Sterling Regional MedCenter at the age of 75.

Richard was born on Oct. 22, 1945 south of Haxtun to Richard Wilson and Betty Lou (Whited) Moon. He attended schools in Stoneham, Sterling and Van Lou, Ohio. He was a welder and worked at Wisdom Manufacturing. Richard was a member of the Sterling Foursquare Church and was a strong believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He loved attending church and bible studies. He also loved spending time with his grandkids, family and friends. He took pride in his yard and garden. Richard enjoyed raising the flag almost every day and loved the U.S.A. and what it stands for. He had a hobby of making arrowheads out of most any kind of rock. He loved his dog, Harley, and enjoyed taking her for walks. They were the best of friends. He married Valda Langdon on Sept. 27, 1969 and they were married for 51 wonderful years.


Richard is survived by his wife Valda; sons Rich Moon Jr. and wife Amy, Sterling, Joseph Moon and wife Rachel, Thermopolis, Wyo., and Scott Moon and wife Christine, Sterling; granddaughters Kayla and husband Kyle, Sharaiah, Andronna and Michel Hernanadez and husband Francisco; grandsons Aaron, Akron, Johnathan and wife McCinna, Josiah and finance Nicki and Micah, all of Thermopolis, Edison, London and William and wife McKayla, all of Sterling; great-grandsons Kamden, Kooper, Korbyn and Kit, all of Sterling, Decker, Thermopolis, Elijah, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Lucas, Sterling; great-granddaughter Ali, Thermopolis, and Alyna, Oklahoma City; sisters Wilma Dudden and husband Dale, Springfield, Mo., Linda Grauberger and husband Denny, Fleming, Deanna Lukens and husband Jerry, Wiggins, Glenda Cook and husband Dick, Yuma, Karla Cook and husband Bob, Yuma, Marsha Saylor and husband Lyle, Sterling, as well as many nieces and nephews.


His is preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth Moon.

Memorial services were held on Jan. 29 at Sterling Foursquare Church with Pastor Ben Hackbarth officiating.
