FLEMING SOPHOMORE Braylen Feather, #11, drives to the basket under pressure from Haxtun's Ryan Tempel.

The Fleming Wildcats met up with the Rams from Merino last Tuesday for what would turn out to be their only game of the week. The Wildcats hosted the Rams early last week before winter weather postponed a game against Kit Carson slated for last Saturday.

Merino's offense opened with 17 points while holding the home team to four to take a 13-point lead after the first quarter of play. The Rams expanded that lead by another four in the second quarter, adding 12 and giving up eight.

The Wildcats saw their only double-digit scoring quarter of the game in the third when they put up 12 points; still five points shy of the visiting team's offense effort for the quarter.

The Rams maintained a 22-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter. They took the win after tacking on another 17 points in the final quarter while giving Fleming just eight. Merino took the non-league contest 63-32.

Senior Kade Comstock led the Wildcats on the scoreboard with 16 points. He shot 67 percent from the charity stripe for six points and added an additional 10 off two-point shots from the floor.

Senior Chris Goss followed with six. He shot 100 percent from floor sinking three of three shots for two points apiece.

Comstock also led his team under the basket in rebounds. He grabbed two offensive and five defensive boards to settle at seven for the night.

Goss and sophomore Blake Feather followed with five boards apiece. Both players split theirs between one offensive and four defensive rebounds.

The Wildcats were scheduled to travel to Peetz on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Watch next week's issue of the Herald for results of that contest.

Fleming is set to be the site for a game later this week and one early next week. The Wildcats are scheduled to host the Prairie Mustangs on Saturday and the Briggsdale Falcons on Monday.
