Quentin "Bud" Biesemeier was recently honored by Lions Club International with an "Old Monarch" award for 55 years of community service through his membership in the Haxtun Lions Club.

Biesemeier joined the Haxtun Lions Club in February 1966. He served as President of the club in 1970-71. He has been an active member throughout his long Lions career, serving as chairman of several committees and was always a faithful worker at all Lions functions. He was recognized by Lions Club International Foundation with a Melvin Jones Fellowship in 2011. The Melvin Jones Fellowship is an honor recognizing outstanding service to the community and the world, through the global work of the Foundation.

In addition to Biesemeier, long-time serving members of the local Lions Club include Wayne "Jack" Falk, with more than 58 years, Ventura "Van" Liufau with 55 years plus, and August "Augie" Bjorklun with over 50 years. There are currently 46 members of the Haxtun club, and together, those members have accumulated nearly 1,000 years of community service.
