Judy Veydovec

Judy Kay Veydovec passed away on June 13, 2021 at the age off 77 surrounded by her loving sons at Lutheran Exempla Hospital.

Judy was born on May 5, 1944 in Denver to Orville and Viola Belle (Meakins) Zimmerman. She grew up in Haxtun and graduated from Haxtun High School as valedictorian in 1962. Due to her academic achievements, she received multiple scholarships and was a Boettcher Scholarship alternate. She continued her education at the University of Colorado in Boulder where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing in 1966. While in college, Judy was a concert pianist with the University of Colorado music department and enjoyed playing the piano for others on campus. After graduation, she was employed as an emergency room nurse as well as a psychiatric nurse in the Denver metro area. Later, she became a Mary Kay Director for over 30 years.

Judy married in 1965 and to this union she had two beloved sons, Bill and David. She was a proud and devoted mother who actively supported her sons in their sporting and academic events. They were the loves of her life. She was also an amazing cook and exceptional seamstress and knitter. She baked specialty breads and constructed handmade phenomenal Halloween costumes for her children. Judy was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies and enjoyed bantering with her mother and sons during and after games. Among being an extraordinary mother, career professional and Colorado sports fam, Judy bravely and resiliently fought multiple sclerosis, a debilitating disease, for over 50 years.


Judy is survived by her sons Bill and wife Angela Veydovec, Denver, and David and wife Molly Veydovec, McAdenville, N.C .; grandson Jack Veydovec, McAdenville; sisters JoAnn and husband Claude Goddard, Haxtun, and JoDell and husband Butch Harsha, Fort Collins, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.


Judy was a one-of-a-kind mother, sister, friend and human being. She was a fighter for the greater good at heart, sacrificing herself for others without hesitation. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her and remembered for her warm, radiant smile and compassionate heart and soul.
