Peirce brings experience to new position at Fleming
August 18, 2021
Fleming students return to the classroom this week and when they do, many will be greeted by Brittany Peirce, Fleming's new Title 1 teacher. While Peirce is new to Fleming Schools, she isn't new to the classroom; Peirce comes with years of experience from RE-1 Valley School District in Sterling.
"I've always wanted to be a teacher," Peirce said. "I grew up playing school with my stuffed animals and brother. I love being a teacher and seeing students grow."
Peirce grew up in northeast Colorado and graduated from Haxtun High School before obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in History.
After college, Peirce married her husband, Matt, and the couple now have three young children, Blane, Rhett and Sophie. The Peirce family also consists of two dogs, Hurley and Lucky, and a cat named Jack.
"Creating an atmosphere where my students can take risks, challenge themselves, feel loved and safe is always my priority," Peirce said. "I had wonderful teachers growing up that inspired me to continue my education to become a teacher. The best thing about being a teacher is seeing it click for a student and when they start to feel confident in their skills."
Peirce said she has always had a special connection to small schools and Fleming seemed like the perfect fit.
"When I heard the Title 1 position was opening up in Fleming it felt like the stars were aligning. Small school and a reading position - two of my loves! I also had heard nothing but rave reviews about the Fleming School District and I am excited to be a part of the family here in Fleming."
Peirce said her family enjoys lake days in the summer and visiting her parents and using their swimming pool. She and her husband also look forward to the first of August each year when they escape and head to Sturgis, S.D. She also enjoys reading, running, working out and tending to her flowers when she isn't busy with her own children and students at work.
"I am looking forward to learning and growing from the amazing staff here in Fleming as well as becoming comfortable in my new position as Title 1 Teacher," she said.
