Phillips County youth bring home honors from Colorado State Fair

BROOKLYN PLUMB, Haxtun High School senior, shows her Spot, Wanda, at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo. The two earned Reserve Champion Spot Market Hog and also first place in Class 1 of Spots. Additionally, Plumb showed a gilt, which received first place in Class 2 of Medium Weight Crossbreds. Plumb's showing at the State Fair qualified her for the Junior Livestock Sale.

Local 4-H members recently competed at the Colorado State Fair held in Pueblo Aug. 27-Sept. 6. The following is a list of both general project and livestock placings from the State Fair:

Market hogs: Brooklyn Plumb: Reserve Champion Spot Market Hog, first in Class 1 of Spots, first in Class 2 of Medium Weight Crossbreds, State sale qualifier.

Market poultry: Isaiah Rueter, third in Pen of 3, Meat Chickens, sixth in Roaster Single, second Hen Turkey, third Hen Turkey, first Best Tom Turkey, third Overall Market Turkey.

Market goats: Lucinda Mares, fourth in Class 3 of Medium Weights,...
