Wildcats take win at Weldon Valley; move to 4-0 in league play

Weldon Valley hosted the Fleming Wildcats last Friday for 6-man gridiron action. The home team managed 18 points in the contest - the most scored on the Wildcat defense in a 6-man contest this season.

Despite the opponent's offensive efforts, the Wildcats took the victory, 62-18, and maintain the top spot at 4-0 in league play.

Junior quarterback Braylen Feather earned a quarterback rating of 165.2 in last Friday's contest. He completed 12 of 14 passes for 187 yards and five touchdowns.

Junior Kody Donnelson spent some time under center in the game. He completed one pass for 10 yards.

Senior Joel Muller led the Wildcat receivers catching six passes for 104 yards. He grabbed a long pass of 33 yards and scored three touchdowns in the air. On defense, Muller caught two interceptions - returning them for a total of 45 Wildcat yards. He added another 27 yards after causing and recovering a fumble.


Junior Nolan Japp followed with two receptions for 39 yards. He caught a long pass of 27 yards and scored one TD. Sophomore Wyatt Cochran caught three passes for 34 yards and a touchdown.

Fleming ran for 108 ground yards for the night. They averaged nine yards per carry. Junior Blake Feather led the squad in rushing yards averaging 23 yards per carry after earning 69 yards on three carries. He scored one touchdown on the ground. Sophomore Matix Haney took two calls for the night and punched one in for six points.

Senior Hayden Burr brought down the team-high tackles on defense. He earned 13 total with nine solo and four assisted. Junior Kolten Houser followed - also in double digits with 10 - split at five solo and five assisted.


Muller's offensive performance gave him 24 of the Wildcats' 62-point total on the scoreboard.

Junior kicker Kenny Bandy followed with 14 points. Seven of eight attempts sailed through the uprights off his boot.

Haney, Japp, Blake Feather and Cochran rounded out the tally - each adding six.

The WIldcats are set to host the Briggsdale Falcons on Friday, Oct. 8. Briggsdale enters with an identical 5-1 record on the year, but 3-1 in league play with a loss to Prairie just last week. Game time in Fleming on Friday night is set for 7 p.m.
