Wildcat football players earn honors at close of this year's season

Six members of the Fleming Wildcats' 6-man football team earned All-Conference designation at the conclusion of the 2021-22 football season. The Wildcats finished at 9-3 overall with an 8-man loss to Haxtun, a regular season loss to Idalia and a quarterfinal playoff loss to Idalia that ended their season.

Seniors Hayden Burr, Joel Muller and junior Nolan Japp were named All-Conference. Juniors Kenny Bandy, Blake Feather and Braylen Feather received All-Conference, Honorable Mention.

Burr, listed on the Wildcat roster as a fullback and middle linebacker, led the Wildcat defense in tackles with 126 on the season. He brought down 70 solo and 56 assisted tackles and added 19 tackles for a loss. He tallied three sacks for a total loss of 21 yards - also the team high. Offensively, Burr averaged just over 25 yards per game with 170 rushing yards and 82 receiving yards over the course of the season. He added 56 points for the Wildcats off nine touchdowns and a safety.

Muller led his team in several columns this year. He contributed the team-high 486 receiving yards averaging nearly 50 yards per game and tallied 90 yards off five interception returns for the season. Defensively, Muller brought down 58 tackles split at 40 solo and 18 assisted. He caused four fumbles, recovered two and tallied 27 fumble recovery yards. Muller served as the punter on this year's special teams; punting away nine times for 286 yards with a long punt of 42 yards.

Japp, the squad's leading rusher, broke 1,000 yards on the graound this season. He averaged over 100 rushing yards per game finishing the year with 1,005 total rushing yards. In addition, he caught 12 passes for 217 receiving yards and led the Wildcats on the scoreboard with 144 points off 24 touchdowns on the season. He followed Burr all around on defense bringing down 100 tackles - 62 solo and 38 assisted - and grabbed 10 tackles for a loss.

Joel Muller

Bandy made good on 80 percent of points after attempts as the team's kicker this year. He went 53 for 63 across the season averaging 12.1 points per game on points after kicks. Bandy scored a total of 110 points - the second high behind Japp's 144.

Blake Feather earned 393 yards on the ground this year off 62 carries. He caught six passes for another 64 offensive yards and scored eight touchdowns. Defensively, he brought down 53 tackles - 25 solo and 28 assisted - and picked off two interceptions.

Braylen Feather, the Wildcat quarterback, completed 62 of 98 passes on the season. He threw for 1,087 total yards averaging 17.5 yards per throw and 108.7 yards per game. He threw 15 touchdown passes and closed the year with a QB rating of 127.8.

The Wildcats lose four players to graduation in May. In addition to Burr and Muller, seniors Nate Betley and Maddix Welch closed out their high school football careers this season.
