HAXTUN'S Isaac Andersen, #42, puts a last minute hand up in the face of Fleming's Joel Muller before he makes an attempt at a bucket in the recent season-opener played at Fleming. The Bulldogs have since advanced to a 4-0 record on the year while the Wildcats have dropped to 0-3.

Fleming's Wildcats dropped their third contest of the three-game season last weekend - this time by just four points - to the visiting Caliche Buffaloes. Two games remain on the Wildcats' agenda before Christmas break.

The home team found themselves down by nine after the opening 10 minutes of play last Friday, 23-14, but closed in on seven points of that gap in the second; outscoring the Buffaloes, 20-13. Caliche remained on top at the half, 36-34.

Third quarter scoring looked fairly even with the visiting team increasing their lead by just three to them up 49-44 heading into the final quarter. Fleming out scored the Buffaloes in the fourth by one, not enough to even the tally, and fell by four, 59-55.

Two Wildcats earned double-doubles for the contest. Junior Braylen Feather led on the scoreboard with 20 points. He sunk six three-point shots from outside the arc for 18 points and picked up the remaining two on a two-point field goal. Under the net, Feather grabbed 10 rebounds; four offensive and six defensive.

Junior Harry Harms tacked on another 16 points for the Wildcats. He tallied all of his on two-pointers. His 16 points combined with the team-high 11 rebounds gave him a double-double for the night. Harms brought down six offensive and five defensive boards.

A tournament is scheduled for this weekend in Fleming. The Wildcats are scheduled to host Arickaree/Woodlin, Gilpin County and Denver Waldorf with contests beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17. Saturday's tournament contests will be determined by Friday's outcomes.
