Haxtun senior Taylor Schram committed to continuing her volleyball career by signing a letter of intent with North Platte Community College. Schram made her commitment in front of family, friends, coaches and administration at Haxtun High School last week.

Schram played setter and outside hitter her senior year as a Lady Bulldog. She was instrumental in leading her team to a final four finish at the State Volleyball Tournament in November. The Lady Bulldogs finished the 2021 season with a 24-5 overall record and 7-1 in league play. The team held an undefeated at-home record, giving their fans a perfect 11-0 showing at home.

Her senior season, Schram registered 279 kills and 62 blocks at the net. She also contributed 471 assists in her final high school season. From behind the service line, she added 48 aces and earned a 93.3 percent service rating. Schram also tallied 268 digs on defense and 97 passes on serve receive.

"Taylor is an athletic player that played pretty much every position for her team," said North Platte Community College Head Volleyball Coach Alexa McCall. "Her versatility will be an asset and help her find the best position for our team. We are looking at her as a setter and an outside hitter, it kind of depends on the make up of the team as a whole, but I think she will be able to make an impact in both positions."

Throughout her time on the volleyball court while in high school, Schram played in 337 varsity sets racking up a total of 1,245 assists. She also netted 110 aces, 853 digs, 140 blocks and 557 kills. She has earned both All-Conference and All-State designations and is set to play in the Colorado All-State volleyball games later this spring.

"I think what stood out for us was Taylor's versatility and athleticism as a player as well as how she would fit the culture of our program as a whole," McCall added.

Schram is a three sport athlete at Haxtun, also leading her team on the basketball court and in track and field. Next year in North Platte, Schram plans to study Health and Human Performance Exercise Science with the ultimate goal of becoming an athletic trainer.

"I think she is a leader for her team and a go-to player. We will look to her for both of these things," McCall added. "I also think she will be a good fit for us as a student athlete."

The Lady Knights volleyball season begins next August. In addition to signing Schram last week, the Lady Knights volleyball organization also received commitments from Fleming Lady Wildcat Whitney Chintala and Briggsdale Lady Falcon Emily Johnson last week. All three ladies come from final four teams at this year's State Tournament.

"We are excited to add Taylor to our team!" McCall said.
