Virgil E. "Virg" Saylor went home to his resting place on Sunday, Jan.16, 2022 at the North Colorado Medical Center after valiantly and bravely battling viral pneumonia.

Virg was born on Jan. 22, 1930 in Fleming to Claude Saylor and Blanche Plog. Being born into a farming family, Virg was no stranger to hard work at any point in his life. Virg started at a young age to be responsible for many chores at his home, graduating to working on his dad's threshing crew and working to train horses. Virg adored his horse Babe and spent many hours riding. Virg would often point out the "lines" of horses bodies and the beauty of certain equines to his daughters.

As a young person, Virg enjoyed ice and roller skating and dancing. He was known to always be involved in playful jokes and antics, some of which came with stiff consequences! He continued this trait of telling jokes and playing pranks throughout his adult life.

The day came when Virg enrolled in the Army to fulfill his patriotic duty fighting in the Korean War. Virg became very observant of the workings of politics and government during the war, and consequently, critical of these machinations.

Virg returned from the war a definite rebel. Everyone who knew him, knew he was a man of strong opinions that stemmed from his experiences. To the day he passed, this was true of his nature.

Virg married Barb Fryrear and had three daughters. He enjoyed being active in his daughters' lives - teaching them to ice skate, taking them sledding, summer vacations to the mountains, teaching them mechanics, going to Father-Daughter banquets, being involved with youth group and other numerous events. He continued this involvement with his grandchildren.

Virg's second passion, next to his family, was dancing. He belonged to dancing groups and was known to go to dances throughout Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas or anywhere a good band was playing. He valued his group of dancing buddies and had many enjoyable times!

Virg also loved to travel. He traveled many places with his high school sweetheart, JaLois Taylor. These times were of great joy for him. Virg is and will be greatly missed. He was a loyal father/grandfather, partner and friend.

He is survived by his daughters Kathi L'Belle, New Mexico, Peggy Kokes and husband Mark, Crook, and Laurie Burke and husband Keith, Elizabeth; grandchildren Jon and Tiffany Borth-Jorgensen, Sara and Chris Vincent, Mary and Fabian Medina, Cameron and Malorie Kokes, Conor Kokes, Spencer Kokes, Craig and Paige Burke; great-grandchildren Ira, Levana, Rowan Borth-Jorgensen, Caellum and Cassidy Vincent and Annalisa and Freya Medina.

As a donor of his body to science, a memorial celebration will be planned this spring or early summer. No date is available at this time. Another announcement will be made in the future concerning a celebration of this unique and out-spoken man.
