FLEMING LADY WILDCAT senior Whitney Chintala finds space in the lane between two Idalia Lady Wolf defenders on Friday night in Fleming. The Lady Wildcats pulled off the win, 53-48, after trading leads with the visiting team throughout the game.

An opportunity to move up in the Colorado High School Activities' Association rankings will present itself for the Fleming Lady Wildcats this week. The team has held the number two spot for the majority of the season and will face top-ranked Briggsdale later this week.

Fleming grabbed a win over Otis to open last week's play on Monday. They went on to defeat Idalia and Prairie on Friday and Saturday nights.

Idalia led after the opening quarter last Friday at Fleming. They went up 14-11 on the home team, but Fleming even things out in the second scoring 13 and giving up 10 to make the score 24-all.

The Lady Wolves inched ahead once again in the third and owned a four-point advantage heading into the final minutes, 43-39. Fleming's defense stepped up in the fourth allowing Idalia just five points while the offense added 14 to take a 53-48 win.

Senior Whitney Chintala led the group with 18 points - six of those off three-point shots. Junior Kally Kirkwood and sophomore Madi Serrato followed with 13 points apiece. Kirkwood put in 67 percent of her two-point shots and went 71 percent from the free-throw line. Serrato earned nine of her points off three-pointers after shooting 75 percent from outside the arc.

Junior Maddy Harms and senior Zoey Vandenbark led under the net. Harms brought down six rebounds; Vandenbark grabbed five.

Saturday's contest on the road at Prairie was all Lady Wildcats. The squad held the Lady Mustangs to single digits in each quarter and ultimately took a 47-14 win.

Chintala took the top spot in scoring with 14 points. Serrato shot 100 percent from behind the three-point line and finished the night with eight total points.

Chintala and Vandenbark brought down the team-high rebounds for the night with six each. Chintala added hers under Fleming's net while Vandenbark split at three and three between offensive and defensive boards.

The Lady Wildcats are set to hit the road for both of their contests this week. They'll start off at Akron on Thursday, Jan. 27 with games beginning at 4 p.m. The team will have Friday off before taking on the top-ranked, undefeated Briggsdale Lady Falcons on Saturday. Games in Briggsdale are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
