HARRY HARMS, Fleming Wildcat junior, beats Idalia's defenders to the hoop in a home contest earlier this season.

A Friday night league victory over Weldon Valley and Saturday night loss to Genoa-Hugo/Karval brings the Fleming Wildcats to 2-1 in their league and 6-9 on the year. Just three contests remain on the regular season agenda.

Fleming handled the Weldon Valley Warriors on Friday night. The Wildcat defense gave up just six points in each of the four quarters while the offense tacked on double digits in quarters one through three. Fleming held a 51-18 lead after the opening three periods. After a low-scoring quarter for both teams in the fourth, the score closed at 59-24, Fleming.

Juniors Braylen Feather and Kolten Houser led the Wildcat offense. Both players added 13 points to Fleming's side of the scoreboard. Senior Joel Muller and juniors Blake Feather and Harry Harms each added seven points.

Braylen Feather also led his team under the net in rebounds. He brought down three offensive and four defensive boards for an evening tally of seven. Harms followed with five; split at two and three, respectively.

The following night, the Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates visited Fleming entering at 10-4 on the season.

First quarter scoring looked even with the Pirates coming out on top by just two, 6-4. The visiting team would advance that lead by six in the second quarter to up 22-14 by the end of the half.

Fleming answered back in the third and knocked two points off the Pirate lead, 15-13, but a solid fourth quarter showing by the road team left them out in front, 51-39, at the final horn.

Blake Feather took top shooting honors for the night with 11 points. He nailed 75 percent from outside the three-point line for nine of his tally. Harms followed with nine points.

Braylen Feather led under the net with six rebounds. He brought down all of his six under the Pirate basket. Harms, Houser, Muller and junior Nolan Japp each brought down four boards.

Basketball action for the next couple weeks, as listed on MaxPreps, includes a road game at Flatirons Academy, a home game against the Peetz Bulldogs and a season-closer at Sedgwick County.

Next Tuesday, Feb. 15, the Wildcats are scheduled to host the Bulldogs of Peetz to wrap up league action. Peetz is listed at 4-11 on the year. That contest is set for 5 p.m.

A season closer is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the home of the Sedgwick County Cougars on Thursday, Feb. 17. The Cougars are listed at 4-10 overall.
