Feb. 17, 1937

J.M. Delander was a passenger to Denver on the Burlington bus Tuesday morning.

Dailey News - The Dailey teachers attended a teachers' meeting in Sterling Saturday.

Philorado News - Clair Spanjer had the misfortune to have his kneecap broken las week. Reports are that he is recovering nicely.

The Haxtun Harvest has a birthday this week, entering into its 19th year with Volume 19, Number One.

The Misses Margaret Mattson and Catherine Andrews, Holyoke, were overnight guests at the C.C. McCune home last Friday.

Russell Mock, who is a student at the University of Colorado, visited during the weekend with relatives and friends here.

Feb. 20, 1952

At a mid-afternoon candlelight ceremony solemnized Saturday at three o'clock, Miss Virginia Kinzie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Kinzie, became the bride of Sgt. H. Neal Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Allen of Denver. The double-ring service was performed by Rev. Willis O. Neff at the Church of the Brethren.

Several of the friends and neighbors of the O.A. Burton family gathered at the farm Jan. 30 with corn pickers, corn shellers and trucks to help with the harvest of the corn crop. Food was prepared and brought in by all the ladies and was served by Mrs. Floyd Thayer, Mrs. H.E. Voris, Mrs. Amos Burton and Mrs. Wallace Burton. The men who helped were Harold Pond, Virgil Kinzie, Gene Hutt, Willard Hart, Ernest Livingston, Fred Heaston, Eldred Atkins, Ernie Stryker, Amos and Ralph Burton, A.C .Heaston and Rev. W.O. Neff.

Feb. 17, 1977

Senior citizens will be the immediate beneficiaries when the new 10-unit Haxtun housing project is completed, probably late this summer. Greg Bamford, Director for both the Haxtun Area Development Group and the Haxtun Housing Authority, said he is awaiting final approval on a Farmers Home Administration loan before the structure is begun. The structure will be located on a quarter-acre lot on the northwest corner of Raymond and South Washington Streets, pending approval of the land sale.

Mr. and Mrs. Ervin R. Byrkit, Haxtun, announce the engagement of their daughter Judy to Roger N. Stewart of Ft. Collins, son of Mrs. Stewart of Erie, and the late Douglas Stewart.

Three seats are up for grabs in an upcoming election of the Haxtun Town Council. Positions currently held by Todd Workman, Steve Bahnsen and Lori Lundgren are up for election on April 3 as is the seat of mayor, presently held by Tommy Thompson.

Luke Davis finished first in the 285-pound weight class at NJC. Andrew Lightsey finished in second place in the 220-pound weight class last weekend. Mitch VanDuren earned a third place finish at Regionals in the 170-pound class. The three Fleming Wildcat wrestlers have earned the opportunity to wrestle in the State Wrestling Tournament this weekend at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
