A pie and box supper will be held in connection with the literary at the Sun Beam School Friday evening. Everyone welcome.
Mrs. Monteith, 43, died suddenly from apoplexy; the community was shocked last Friday evening to learn of the death of Mrs. D.S. (Margaret Manning) Monteith, which occurred quite suddenly at the family home here.
A pretty wedding that took place last Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Ricker of Ovid, their daughter, Miss Violet Mae, became the bride of Mr. Robert Anderson. The ceremony was performed at high noon by the Rev. E.W. Fondell, pastor of the Fairfield Church.
County Coroner H.B. Radford of Haxtun was called to Amherst Saturday evening to investigate the death of Melvin Herbert Jung, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Jung, who was accidentally killed while hunting near his home.

Fleming News - Among the students home for the weekend were Joyce Yount, Omar Burnheide, Dorvin Schepler, Mary Andrews from Colorado A&M, and Barbara Barkley from Colorado University.
Miss Detta Silvey, who is attending beauty school in Greeley, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Silvey, during the weekend.
Pfc. Robert L. Kilpatrick and Pvt. John W. Weibers were Friday evening supper guests at the J.C. Legg home.
Those from Haxtun who attended the hockey game in Denver last Tuesday night were Garold B. Barker, Harvey Olson, Gene Schannep, Bill Bergan, Willard Madsen, Keith Knode, and E.H. Johnson.
At a pretty wedding solemnized Thursday at nine o'clock in the morning in St. Anthony's Church in Sterling, Miss Florence Artzer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Artzer, was united in marriage to Robert G. Monteith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Monteith.

Two family physicians who were once classmates at Colorado State University will open new practices in Haxtun beginning in early August, according to Cliff Cronin, a member of the Haxtun Hospital Auxiliary Board. Dr. James Ley, M.D., and Dr. Robert A. Marlow, M.D., have agreed to join in partnership in Haxtun and provide general health services to the surrounding four-county area. Dr. Ley is married to the former Janice Byrkit, Haxtun. Dr. Marlow's wife is Lorraine.
Recent outstanding awards won by Haxtun students at the Future Business Leaders of America conference included Steve Sharpe, Mr. FBLA, and Melanie Hofmeister, Who's Who in FBLA.
Elenna Martin of Sterling became the bride of Dennis Firme, Haxtun on Jan. 23, 1977, at 2 p.m. The double-ring ceremony was performed by Gordon Benesh of the United Methodist Church in Haxtun.

Engagement: Sherri Lynn Anway and Paul Michael Brasby, both of North Platte, Neb. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Anway, Grand Junction. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brasby, Haxtun.
Chris Fuesz has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He is the son of Bill and Linda Fuesz of Haxtun.
Wayne Starner assumed duties as Haxtun's third full-time police officer last Tuesday night. Starner and his wife Geri have three children, Melissa, Justin and Ryan.

An early afternoon fire in Haxtun destroyed a home in the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue on Saturday. According to Haxtun Police Chief Tanya Mayhew, the exact cause of the fire is still unknown but a fire investigator will be on site soon to try to determine the source.
The Haxtun Police Department as well as the Haxtun Fire Department were called to the home belonging to Chad and Rena Tuell.
