Students Taking Action with Recognition events day was held at Merino High School on March 3. Haxtun FCCLA members attended, judged and presented projects while at the event.

STAR events are competitive events in which members present and are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and career preparation. STAR events allow students to present individually or as a team.

There are more than 30 STAR Events students can choose from, all of which recognizes participants who demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities to actively identify an issue concerning families, careers or communities, research the topic and develop and implement a project to advocate for positive change. Each student presented and or Judged other presentations. As student judges, they had to give feedback from a rubric.

The day ended with a judges panel to give all members general feedback on their projects.  The feedback included everything from greeting judges, eye contact, memorizing speeches to making sure they include the little details of the FCS standards and FCCLA purposes in their project.
