Two seek mayoral spot

March 23, 2022

Fleming residents will be tasked with selecting a new mayor next month. As current Mayor Sue Einsphar rounds out her final term at the helm of the Fleming Town Council, two current council members have returned petitions to fill her spot. John Stone and Stefan Betley are both seeking the Mayor seat; the two are long-time Fleming Town Council members.

Fleming Town Council elections will take place on April 5 via a polling place election at the Fleming Community Center. According to Town Clerk Michelle Asfeld, in addition to the mayor position, five council seats are also up for election.

“Three petitions were turned in for five seats,” Asfeld explained. Bonnie Jackson, William Langridge and Andrew Muller all returned petitions. The three currently sit on the Council now.

“Fleming has an ordinance that doesn’t allow for write-in candidates, so after the election and the new council members take their seats, the Council will declare vacancies,” Asfeld said.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5 at the Fleming Community Center.
