Betley, Jackson, Landridge and Muller take oath of office

The Fleming Town Council met for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at the Fleming Town Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Sue Einspahr at 6:31 p.m. The following council members were present: Stefan Betley, Andrew Muller, Bill Landridge, John Stone, Ken MacCrone and Bonnie Jackson. Also present were Michelle Asfeld, Keith Beck, Joelle and Alex Gapter, Lewis Frank, Suzanne and Mathias Wales and Jared Betley.

Additions/Corrections to the Agenda: A motion was made and seconded to approve the agenda, all voted and the motion passed.

Public Comment: None.

Consent Agenda: A motion was made and seconded to approve the Consent Agenda, all voted and the motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report: Frank presented the Treasurer’s Report. A motion was made and seconded to approve the Treasurer’s Report, all voted and the motion passed.

Clerk’s Report: Asfeld reported that she is happy to have the municipal election behind her and she was pleased with the job of the election judges. She also reported that municipal court was held last Monday.


Electric: Beck reported that the Town purchased a 2013 Ford F550 bucket truck.

Water Report: Beck told the council that he’s aware of the service line leak on the south side of town.

Sewer Report: No report.

Streets: The Maintenance crew will be filling pothole when it warms up.

Health and Safety: No report.

Parks and Recreation: The Council discussed the splash pad again and efforts to secure a contractor.

Action Items: None.

Council Recognition: Einspahr presented outgoing council members MacCrone and Stone with plaques in recognition for their contribution to the Council. Betley then presented Einspahr with a plaque in recognition for her time and contributions as mayor.


Oath of Office: At 7:05 p.m. the Oath of Office was administered to Betley, the incoming Mayor. The Oath of Office was then administered to council members Jackson, Landridge and Muller. Following the Oath of Office, Muller was selected Mayor Pro-Tem. Betley declared that there are three council vacancies. He asked if there was any interest from those in attendance, in filling the vacancies. Suzanne Wales and Alex Gapter said they would like to be considered to fill the vacancies. A motion was made and seconded to accept Wales and Gapter to the Council and the motion passed. One council vacancy remains.


Media Relations Coordinator Report: Gapter has been working with Colorado Department of Local Affairs and Great Outdoors Colorado on potential grants to assist the Town with several future projects.

Discussion Items: Betley informed the Council about the committees and advisory boards. He suggested that the Council make determinations about committees and advisory boards at the next meeting.

Executive Session: None.

Upcoming Events: Fleming Town Cleanup is Friday, April 29. Town Council Meeting on May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fleming Town Hall.

Adjournment: A motion was made and seconded to adjourn at 8:10 p.m., all voted and the motion passed.
