May 12, 1937

Showing extreme boldness, thieves visited the Henry Anderson farm in the Fairfield community last Thursday night and made off with two fat hogs. Mr. Anderson said that a similar theft occurred in March of this year when four hogs were taken from the pen. He says that the visitors may save the trouble of coming back, as the remaining hogs were taken to market this week.

Paoli News - Mrs. Leland Miller and Melinda took cattle to the Iliff Fair held in Sterling on Saturday.

Fleming News - Dr. Wm. Hunter came to Fleming Saturday to give rabies shots for Fleming area dogs. Forty-four dogs have gotten a license so far.

May 14, 1992

Miss Colorado, Colleen Walker, showers her crown, worth $12,000, to Fleming junior and senior high students on Friday. Walker said she made seven attempts for the crown before she finally won it. She has spoken in about 40 schools this past year.

Haxtun vocational ag instructor Jack Swope and his wife Beca leave for Zimbabwe, Africa, in July for a time in the Peace Corps. The school is planning to combine the classes with the industrial arts program, taught by Larry McCarty until his retirement this year. McCarty will stay on as part-time guidance counselor.

The highly anticipated day for seniors arrived at last for Haxtun High School's Class of 2012. Twenty graduates said farewell to HHS during commencement exercises in front of a gymnasium full of family members, friends and school faculty members.

Haxtun's Class of 2012 includes: Josh Turney, Steven Seybels, Luke Davis, William Dixon, Kent Hiller, Matt Helfer, Cody Fix, Brent Vasa, Trey Bivins, Cole Fix, Karsten Anderson, Kylen Mathias, Timothy Nichols, Nicholas Newman, Kelsey Garretson, Elizabeth Nicks, Marquel Gueck, Karci Lockwood, Janel Rodriguez and Katelyn Kaus.
