C. Wilbur Kipp passed away on Aug. 6, 2022 at the age of 95 in Haxtun where he resided his whole life.

Wilbur was born the first-born son of Clarence and Agnes L. (Erickson) Kipp on May 11, 1927. He attended and graduated from Haxtun Schools. During high school, he was employed by the Foster Lumberyard of Haxtun. He was baptized into Christ in 1938 and became a member of the Haxtun Church of the Brethren, where he has served, in many capacities, for his entire lifetime.

In 1944 following high school graduation, Wilbur enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp and was called to active duty, serving entirely on the mainland, stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan .; Keesler Field, Biloxi, Miss .; Lowry Field, Denver; and Roswell Army Air Field, Roswell, N.M. After an honorable discharge, he returned home and was employed by Phillips County Road District #3.

On June 19, 1948, Wilbur married his high school sweetheart, Lois E. Carnes at Haxtun. Lois worked at the Haxtun Community Bank and they lived in Haxtun, until 1950 when they embarked on a farming and ranching career. They lived and farmed south of Haxtun for one year and in 1952 moved to their farm west of Haxtun, where for 35 years they enjoyed raising corn and cattle. They also farmed Lois's parent's land, the Carnes Farm south of Haxtun. In 1986, Wilbur and Lois retired and moved to their current home on West Fletcher in Haxtun. After retiring Wilbur spent time at his hobbies of photography, photo developing, his guns, cooking and baking. His grandchildren loved his homemade bread. He accumulated a picture history of the Haxtun Community of approximately 1,000 photos and negatives. He loved preserving history and was part of a local group that restored the nearly extinct Dunkard (Brethren) Cemetery southeast of Amherst.

Wilbur was a member of the American Legion for 55 years, charter member and officer of the Haxtun Lions Club for 50 years and a Past District Governor of Colorado Lions International District 6 East. He served on the board of the Haxtun Community Bank for 20 years, the Frenchman RE-3 School Board, the Logan County Extension Service Irrigation Committee and the Logan County ASCS committee.

He leaves behind a grateful family including daughter Denise and husband Charles Everhart and their children Charla and husband Kevin Lum and Chad and wife Mandy Everhart; son Brian and wife Cindy Kipp and their daughters Lindsay and husband Bruce Hall and Whitney and husband Brandon Lynch; son Darin Lynn and wife Katherine Kipp and daughters Dara Lane and husband Dustin Park and Sabra Jolley; and niece Chere Warner. Wilbur was very proud of his great-grandchildren including Eloise Lum, Merrick Everhart, Harper Lynch, Theodore Lynch, Ruby Hall, Josephine Hall, Charlotte Park, Genevieve Park and a great-grandson due in January.

Wilbur is preceded in death by his wife Lois; parents Clarence and Agnes; brother Keith Kipp; daughter Doreen Yvonne; infant grandson Daniel Charles Everhart; and infant great-granddaughter Rosalind Hope Hall.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Haxtun Church of the Brethren. There will be no visitation. Interment will be into the loving arms of his family.
