Wildcats open with win over North Park; Feather earns 157.9 QB rating

JUNIOR MATIX Haney, Fleming #9, looks to cause a fumble as he wraps up North Park ball carrier Gavin Pittington in Saturday's season opener at Fleming. The local Wildcats notched a 45-12 win over the North Park Wildcats to open at 1-0.

Win number one went on the books for the Fleming Wildcats who defeated the visiting North Park Wildcats in a Saturday afternoon season opener.

Fleming looked ready in the opening minutes of the game and tacked on two touchdowns while holding North Park scoreless.

The visiting Wildcats found the end zone once in the second quarter, but Fleming upped their score by another 13 to close the half at 25-6.

North Park added another TD in the third quarter, but that would be their last of the game. The local Wildcats put up 20 points in the third and settled at zero for the fourth quarter and the game closed at 45-12, Fleming.

To begin his senior season, Quarterback Braylen Feather earned a 157.9 QB rating. He completed 10 of 13 pass attempts for 178 yards on the day. He threw a long completion of 37 yards and two TDs.

Senior Nolan Japp led the Wildcats on the ground with 117 yards. He carried the ball for a long of 43 yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns.


Senior Blake Feather tacked on 100 offensive yards for the winning team. He split his yardage on the ground and in the air with 48 yards and 52 yards, respectively. He earned one rushing touchdown.

Senior Kolten Houser earned two receiving TDs off several short passes. He finished the day with 32 receiving yards.

Senior Harry Harms led the Wildcat receivers with 64 yards. Harms caught four passes - two of those resulting in six on the scoreboard. He caught a long pass of 36 yards.

Junior Wyatt Cochran followed Harms in receiving yardage with 62 total. He also caught four passes. His long catch resulted in 28 Wildcat yards.


The duo of Japp and Blake Feather led Fleming's defense with eight tackles apiece. Japp brought down five solo and three assisted; Feather's split and four and four. Houser followed with seven tackles. He brought down one and six, respectively.

Braylen Feather grabbed four interceptions from his defensive position. He tallied 24 interception yards.

Fleming is set to host Idalia this Friday, Sept. 2. The Wolves enter the contest at 0-1 following a week one, 13-7, loss to Briggsdale. Kickoff on Friday is set for 7 p.m.
