Honors earned in annual Halloween costume contest

HALLOWEEN costume contest first place winners are pictured at the Haxtun Fire Hall on Monday night, Oct. 31. Monday night, Oct. 31 action brought characters of all sorts to the Haxtun Fire Hall for the annual hot dog dinner and costume contest. Small children, young kids and even adults gathered for top honors in the best dressed categories. The following is a list of winners from the 2022 Halloween costume contest:

Three and under: Evelyn Yockey, first, Alro Klimek, second, and Lorenzo Grilli, third.

Preschool and kindergarten: John Henry, first, Jaymie Ham, second, and Thomas Clark, third.

First and second grade: Ben Henry, first, Amber Edwards, second, Jakson Yockey, third.

Third and fourth grade: Treyton Biesemeier, first, Jack Hansen, second, Cail Wilson, third.

Fifth and sixth: Peyton Mavis, first, Ellery Bornhoft, second, Canon Wilson, third.

Junior high: Carter Imhoft, first, Paige Oliver, second, Leah Edwards and Caleb Santisteven, tie for third.


High school: Emma Payne, first, Zoe Kurtzer, third.

Group: Wizard of Oz including Peyton Mavis, Hayden Cochran, Elsa Kurtzer, Haylie Carpenter, LeaAnn Kleve, Taivyn Bullard and Taryn Thayer, first.

Family: Wolff family, first, Edwards/Wernsman family, second, Grilli family, third.
