JUNIOR MADIKAY Serrato goes up under the basket for a shot in Saturday's game against Prairie. She made leading scoring contributions in both games last weekend racking up 25 total points.

The Fleming Lady Wildcats pulled off their closest contest of the season last week when the Stratton Lady Eagles came to town. In the six games prior, the Lady Wildcats defeated their opponents by 26 points per game on average. Friday night's contest came down to a single point as Stratton threatened to end Fleming's perfect season.

The Lady Eagles held the upper hand after the opening quarter leading the home team by one, 15-14, and despite a low-scoring second quarter for both teams, the half ended at 19-all.

Stratton pulled back out in front in the third adding 14 to the scoreboard while giving up just seven to the Lady Wildcats. Fleming came back in the final quarter to make their best offensive showing taking the lead and eventually the win with the addition of 17 points. Fleming's defense held Stratton to nine for the 43-42 victory.

Junior MadiKay Serrato led the Lady Wildcats on the scoreboard with 15 of her team's points. She shot 75 percent from the free-throw line at three-for-four, made six off two three-pointers and six off three deuces.

Senior Kally Kirkwood followed, also hitting double digits with 12. She went 100 percent from the charity stripe at two-for-two and earned the remaining 10 on two-point buckets.

The senior duo of Kirkwood and Maddy Harms led the Lady Wildcats under the basket in rebounds. Kirkwood grabbed 15; two offensive and 13 defensive. Harms brought down 11; six offensive and five defensive.

A senior trio of Kirkwood, Lexi Schaefer and Laney Schliesser led in steals. Kirkwood grabbed six; Schaefer and Schliesser added four apiece.

On Saturday night, the Lady Wildcats hosted the Prairie Lady Mustangs for the first league contest of the season. Fleming held Prairie to single digits in all four quarters and the Lady Mustangs fell to the home team 46-11.

Serrato and Kirkwood led on the scoreboard with 10 points each. Both ladies made a pair of three-pointers and a pair of two-point buckets on the night.

Kirkwood and freshman Siena Donnelson led the Lady Wildcats in rebounds. Kirkwood grabbed two offensive and five defensive for seven; Donnelson brought down one and six, respectively. Harms followed with six boards.

The Lady Wildcats now stand at 8-0 overall. The win over Prairie puts them at 1-0 in league play. They are scheduled to play in one contest this week on Thursday, Jan. 19. That night they're set to host the 6-3 Akron Lady Rams. Games that night are slated for 4 p.m.
