Included in the cast of the annual junior class play Rex Mooney, Everett McConnell, Jeane Beckman, Georgibelle Smith, Mary Clark, Junior Meakins, Phyllis Anderson, Reinder Deburh and Jean Young. "Broadway Bound" is the name of the play set for Thursday night of next week at the Rialto Theater.
Sub-zero weather visited Haxtun for a brief spell this week, but the storm was of short duration. The cold spell was discomforting to residence of this community, especially so because of the sudden change from exceptionally warm weather.

Fleming News - Mr. and Mrs. Finnis Brown entertained Mr. and Mrs. Gene Brown and Peggy at dinner on Sunday. As supper guests, they had Finnis' aunt, Mrs. Larry Gustavson, and Miss Marcy, and Mrs. Leonard Hack from Rawlins, Wyo. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ballinger and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Brown, Mrs. Leona Cochran, and Mrs. Vern Hradecky.

Bill and JoAnne Harris have recently purchased Baker's Food Liner from Raymond Baker. The Harrises also purchased A&F Grocery from the Baumgartners and have combined the two stores in Baker's building under the name of Harris' Grocery and Market. Hazel Lambert, June Stauffer and Agnes Burton were employees of Raymond Baker and will work with Bill and JoAnne.
Haxtun qualifiers for district playoffs in one on one competition basketball: Kevin McDaniel, Brad Anderson, Darren Holston, Carol McCarty, Kelly Carper, Laurie Spelts, Michelle Spelts, Barbara Salyards, Rita Potter, John Harris, Rodney Anderson and Kent McDaniel.

Comments from Haxtun's third grade class taught by Chris Brauer, on "If I were president..." Lacey Salyards: "I would like servants to attend to me. I would like to ride in a limousine someday like the president does." Adam Wernsman: "I would never lie. I would stop Saddam Hussein from destroying things."
Beth Monheiser's fifth grade class at Fleming presented "Miss Louisa and the Outlaws" to parents on Friday. Cast members: Tiffany Mekelburg, Tandi Wisdom, Mandy Einspahr, Nick Helgoth, Selinda Oberle, Sara Wernsman, Cole Lamont, Vernon Riemenschneider, Jared Christopher, Alyssa Erlenbach and Shalan Bemus.

Don Lock and Harlan Stern have taken their seats at the Phillips County Commissioners' table and are busy at work in their first month of office. Over the past month, the Commissioners held an annual re-organization meeting in which Joe Kinnie was elected as Chairman for 2013. Stern and Lock will serve as Co-Chairs in Kinnie's absence.
The Lady Bulldogs' basketball team dominated a match up with the Merino Rams Friday night, earning a huge 51-27 victory. It is the second time this season Haxtun's beat the Lady Rams.
The Bulldogs from Haxtun picked up two much needed wins at home last weekend. League victories over Merino and Wiggins leave the Bulldogs at 3-1 in Lower Platte standings and 10-3 overall with just five regular season games left on the schedule.
