MICHAEL Beard recently took his oath of office to fill the vacancy of Phillips County Sheriff. Beard was appointed by the Phillips County Commissioners to fill the Sheriff's position following the passing of Thom Elliott several weeks ago. Beard will serve as Sheriff until the next general election at which time voters will elect a Sheriff.

Beard previously served as Undersheriff, a position Elliott appointed him to in May 2020. Prior to his employment with the Sheriff's Office, Beard served a number of years with the Haxtun Police Department.
