Bulldog baseball picks up two wins in Wiggins to improve to 6-0

The Bulldogs shut out Wiggins on the road Saturday afternoon to improve to 6-0 on the season. Haxtun held the hometown Tigers scoreless in both games, picking up two commanding wins that leaves the Bulldogs as one of two undefeated teams in 2A/1A Lower Platte league standings as of early this week. According to MaxPreps, Merino leads the League at 7-0 and Haxtun stands at number two with a 6-0 record.

Haxtun picked up a 3-0 win in game one and a powerful 14-0 victory in game two in Wiggins on Saturday. Individuals stats for the two contests were not reported as of press time.

Thus far this season, the Bulldogs remain unbeaten with double-header wins over Akron, Holyoke and most recently, Wiggins. This week the team is set to host Yuma at home on Saturday. Next week's schedule pits Haxtun against Briggsdale, Otis and Merino.

According to MaxPreps, Merino, who holds the league's top spot just above the Bulldogs, has notched wins over Peetz, Wiggins, Wray and Yuma thus far this season. Before meeting up with the Bulldogs next weekend, the Rams will face off with Caliche.

Colorado's spring weather has already forced several scheduling changes for the 2023 baseball season.
