Under the Wire

Ok, I give up!

Let me begin this column with a heads up to all my loyal readers. If there is a date, including the month anywhere near the words on this page, I can assure you it was not my hand that put it there. Beginning March 2020, my grasp of time, including what month we are in, has been non-existent.

Of course “The Rona” threw us all for a loop in that month. For me, that began a period where one month slipped by and was swiftly and quietly replaced by another. This process continued until, Lo and Behold, someone informed me another March was here! What happened to the other eleven that should have appeared? No idea.

The monthly routine that has been part of my life the past years, darn, ran out of ink just as I got to that part, had always been divided up into four sections we call seasons. Winter, of course is cold, slipping in after Fall which is cooler, with shorter days, Summer pops up with hot days and thunder storms, the fourth is Spring which we all like.

This year whenever it was, none of those signs seemed to show up. Winter brought cold and snow, as it should, however, so did April. In fact, as I write this, I have been told May is only a few days away. Yet, I am still waking up to frost, frozen water tanks, snow on the ground and the need for at least two layers of clothes, gloves, scotch cap with the ear flaps down, all which I began wearing a long time back.

This is why I have lost all sense of time. Heck even the livestock are having a tough time trying to decide if it is time to shed last winter’s long hair or keep it in place for the upcoming snow storms.

This is the reason for the title today. “I Give Up.” Seems like we had 60 degree weather at Christmas, snow on April Fool’s Day and who knows what on my birthday, or should I say birthdays? I may have had several for all I know.

If any of you have had this same problem, I would appreciate you dropping me a line. Of course, with the post office working as it is these days, it may take a year for it to get here. That’s OK, though a year might only be a couple of months for all I know!
