Ivan Brooks

Ivan Keith Brooks passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the age of 93.

Keith was born Oct. 29, 1930 in Haxtun to Ivan and Florence Elnora (Bevard) Brooks. He graduated from Haxtun High School in 1949. After graduation, Keith worked at Haxtun Phone Company for four years, the Seismic Company for two years and Western Lumbar in California for 40 years.

He married Elaine Darlene Fetzer in 1952 in Haxtun and later married Vera Lowry in El Cajon, Calif. in 1984. Keith enjoyed spending time with his dogs, wood working, playing solitaire, NASCAR racing and was a huge fan of Jimmy Johnson (Ivan was his next-door neighbor in CA).

Keith is survived by his sister Carol Scheel, Sterling; son Ricky Brooks, Euless, Texas; and daughter Lynnette Kay Berendes, Douglas, Wyo.

He is preceded in death by his wives Elaine and Vera; sons John William and Thomas Keith Brooks ;and granddaughter Megan Tepedino.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Haxtun Cemetery with Pastor Kristie Firme officiating. A celebration of life service will follow at Haxtun City Park.
