Haxtun FFA Chapter celebrates FFA Week last week

The Haxtun FFA celebrated National FFA week this past week. Throughout the week, students participated in activities in class and helped to promote FFA.

The week started on Tuesday, Feb. 18 with the annual Petting Zoo. Elementary students and other kids from the community were able to pet the animals and learn more about them. There was a horse, miniature donkey, two dairy calves, a lamb, a goat and two kids (baby goats) and two dogs.

The rest of the week, high school ag classes participated in games during their ag class period. Wednesday brought redneck curling, where one person is on a scooter, two people have brooms to "sweep," and one person pushes the person on the scooter. The goal is to make it onto the high point areas and receive the most points. On Thursday was a tricycle rodeo, where students used a tricycle to compete in poles and keyhole, two rodeo events. The fastest time won. Friday brought the week to a close with pickup push, where students had to push the ag pickup in the fastest time.

FFA week is always seems to be a favorite of local high school students and this year seemed no different.
