CSU Extension provides updated dates and times

With the uncertainty around events due to COVID-19, the Colorado State University Extension Office is giving updates on various programs:

Virtual Livestock Nutrition

Week one of the clinic will cover Monogastric Nutrition and will mainly cover swine. The beginners’ session is on Monday, May 4 at 5 p.m. The advanced session will be May 6 at 5 p.m. The second week will be over Ruminant Nutrition and will focus on cattle, sheep, goats and rabbits. The beginners’ session will be on May 11 at 5 p.m. The advanced session will be May 13 at 5 p.m. Colby Hales is the presenter. He is a Colorado State University Alum and also is finishing his Masters at the University of Wyoming. Register on Eventbrite by May 1. Important 4-H dates

Animal care and housing forms, horse ID, animal ID and project adddDrop deadline are May 1. Contact Stewart for more information at [email protected].

Cottage Foods Training

Are you interested in selling home madeproducts at farmers’ markets or in your community this summer? The Colorado Cottage Foods Act requires that produces complete a food safety training prior to starting their business and selling foods. One option for this requirement is taking the Food Safety Training for Colorado Cottage Food Producers offered by Colorado State University Extension. The next training is scheduled for May 15 at the Logan County Extension Office. You can pre-register at http://csu-ext-food-preservation.eventbrite.com. Plains to Peaks: Hike Colorado

Join other hiking enthusiasts on two local hikes this summer. The first hike, to the Pawnee Buttes, is scheduled for May 23. The second hike, to the Devil’s Backbone in Loveland, is scheduled for June 13. Keep watching for updates. Contact Deeona Johnston at [email protected] for more information.

Phillips Co. Community Garden

Phillips County Extension will be starting up a community garden on the Event Center grounds with help from a grant through the Will Heginbotham Trust. It will feature four raised garden beds to start. Three beds will be designated for produce and one bed will contain flowers. Hopes are this garden will benefit the community in many ways.

Zumba® Classes

Zumba® classes are a great way to have fun and relieve stress while working out! Johnston will be offering free 30-minute Zumba® classes and one hour classes Wednesday and Friday evenings for a small fee. STRONG Nation™ Classes

STRONG Nation™, formally known as STRONG by Zumba, is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout that is set to music. This music is designed specifically for the workout, so there is no counting reps and all exercises use your body weight!
