Free antibody test provided by HHD

Haxtun Hospital to host community COVID-19 antibody testing site

Haxtun Hospital District plans to provide community members with a free COVID-19 antibody test on June 22 from 4-7 p.m. and June 23 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Haxtun Community Center.

This test is a simple blood draw that can determine if a person has been exposed to SARS-COV2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and has developed antibodies against the disease. Ongoing research is still in progress regarding antibodies, however, having them may provide a level of immunity from the disease. Results from the test take an average of three to five days and will be mailed to participants.

On Tuesday, June 23, from 8-9 a.m., testing will be reserved for at-risk and age 65+ community members. This is a free event and there is no charge to the public. Participants will be able to register at the door.

Haxtun Hospital District applied for a waiver with the NE Health Department and the Phillips County Commissioners and was approved to host the testing site. Safe social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks will be provided for those that need one. HHD will maintain safe sanitizing practices between each community member tested, just as we do in our HHD lab facility.

It is important to note this antibody test cannot determine if you have an active infection. For more information about the testing site, please call the Haxtun Family Medicine Center at (970) 774-6187.

The COVID IGG antibody test is part of HHD's Direct Access Testing program. Much like participating in your local health fair, Direct Access Testing allows community members to receive annual lab work without an appointment or a doctor's order.
