Serving the community of Haxtun for the last five years, the impact that Dr. Breck McCarty has made has been immeasurable. Dr. McCarty has seen hundreds of patients in her time serving Hospital District and has been instrumental in changing the lives of her patients for the better. On July 1, Dr. McCarty resigned from her position as Medical Provider and Chief of Staff at Haxtun Hospital District.

Even though she will no longer be seeing patients, she will remain a role model in our community. Dr. McCarty was nominated and awarded the 2018 Wellness for Women award which honors those in our community who have had a significant impact on the health and well-being of other women in the community. McCarty's demeanor as a provider has often been described as compassionate and her ability to build trust with her patients and families has resonated throughout her time at HHD. Her passion in getting to know her patients, their families and being an integral part of their lives will be missed.

Helping patients advocate for themselves in every area of their health has always been a strength for McCarty. She has always encouraged her patients to "eat a well-balanced diet including fresh fruit and vegetables, stay active and most importantly, take time for yourself every day to do something you enjoy." McCarty will be able to do more of this herself, as she loves relaxing outdoors, traveling and spending time making memories with her son, friends and family.

Along with her positive impact on patients, McCarty has fostered incredible relationships with other co-workers at HHD.

"Breck loves to teach, she loves sharing her knowledge and has always been so willing and eager to share," said Jessica Bullard, Nurse Practitioner at Haxtun Hospital. "Learning under her has been amazing experience. We are fortunate to have her here and available to us."

During this time, Haxtun Hospital District is hosting a mail-in card shower for Dr. Breck McCarty. Cards of thanks and appreciation can be mailed to Dr. Breck McCarty at 235 W. Fletcher St., Haxtun, CO 80731.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving the community of Haxtun in the capacity of a family physician and I will greatly miss my coworkers and patients," McCarty said.
