HVFD sends firemen to Cameron Peak Fire

Three of Haxtun's volunteer firemen set out to help fight the Cameron Peak Fire, now dubbed the largest wildfire in Colorado's history. The Cameron Peak fire ignited on Aug. 13 in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National forests near Cameron Pass and Chambers Lake.

The fire is burning over rugged terrain and has caused numerous evacuations and closures as it's inched closer to Fort Collins and the surrounding areas. As of Monday morning, Oct. 19, the fire has covered more than 203,000 acres.
