Haxtun Country Christmas slated for next Tuesday

November 25, 2020

Things might look a little different this year, but Santa will make his annual visit to Haxtun next week. As always, Santa Clause will be part of the line up during Haxtun’s Country Christmas slated for Tuesday, Dec. 1 in downtown Haxtun.

Along with a visit from Santa and the traditional chili supper at the Haxtun Fire Hall, Country Christmas goers will also have the opportunity to shop local and enjoy a variety of entertainment downtown at the event next week.

Volunteer firemen plan to serve dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Other events slated for downtown include the FFA children’s Christmas train, Lone Star choir, Haxtun Dickens Carolers, the giving tree located at the Town Hall and the junior high cheer team’s hot chocolate stand. There will also be a mail box for children to leave letters to Santa at the Haxtun Post Office.

Those shopping local will find in-store prizes, promotions and drawings at participating businesses. Those who make a purchase on Dec. 1 will receive a raffle ticket. All tickets are to be returned to participating businesses by 7:30 p.m. for a chance to win Haxtun Bucks.

Children’s passports will be available at participating businesses in town and may be filled by visiting specified locations. All passports must be returned by 7:30 p.m. at the Haxtun Post Office for a chance at Haxtun Bucks.

Businesses who plan to be open during Haxtun’s 2020 Country Christmas include Cowboys and Lace Antiques, Haxtun Super’s, Haxtun Community Federal Credit Union, The Country Rose, C-Mart, The Doghouse and Retread Threads. The Haxtun Building Center plans to participate in the raffle ticket drawing throughout the day and will be open until 5 p.m. The Town Hall and Haxtun Post Office will also be open that evening.
