Midway through the season and the Bulldog baseball team holds a 4-4 record. With just two double-headers and a one contest match up with Briggsdale left on the schedule, Haxtun holds the sixth seed in 2A/1A Lower Platte League baseball standings, according to Maxpreps. Wray comes in first ahead of Merino, Sedgwick County, Akron and Caliche. Haxtun holds a 4-3 league record.

The Bulldogs, who were originally slated to travel to Akron last week, ended up hosting a home contest with the Rams due to rainfall in Washington County that left the Akron field under water. The Rams jumped to a two-run lead at the end of the first inning, but the Bulldogs bounced back early in the second with two runs to even things out. Akron added runs in both the second and third innings to claim the lead before going on to earn the 7-4 win.

That win puts the Rams at 3-3 overall this season and in fourth place in league standings with a 3-2 league record.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs traveled to Iliff for a contest with Caliche where they would claim a 13-1 victory. Inning scores for the Caliche contest and individual stats for either contest were not available as of press time.

The Caliche Buffs are currently 9-2-1 overall with a 3-2-1 league record; reflecting a 0-0 tie with Sedgwick County on May 19. The team holds the fifth seed in the Lower Platte League just ahead of Haxtun.

This week the Bulldogs are set to host the Rams from Merino on Friday, May 28 for a double-header. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. The following Tuesday, Haxtun hosts Briggsdale for a one-game match up at 3 p.m. The team rounds out the regular season on June 4 as the Bulldogs travel to Prairie for a double-header.
