Fleming Town Council agrees to add third maintenance position after executive session

The Fleming Town Council met for a special meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at the Fleming Town Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Sue Einspahr at 6:30 p.m. The following council members were present: Stefan Betley, DeeAnn Christopher (by phone), Nancy Glaspie, Levi Lowe, Ken MacCrone and John Stone. Also present were Keith Beck and Michelle Asfeld.

Additions/Corrections to the Agenda: A motion was made and seconded to approve the agenda, all voted and the motion passed.

Public Comment: None.

Action Items: Einspahr visited with Tom Goss about the possibility of trimming trees and removing the dead trees. The Council looked at the bids they received from Goss and Gary Mayhill. After some discussion, Beck mentioned that the maintenance crew can cut down the dead trees in the North Park before the Fleming Fall Festival. Einspahr, Stone and Beck will meet at the North Park on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. to access the situation. No action was taken on the bids.

Earlier in the week, Einspahr met with Joelle Gapter to brainstorm about ways to promote the Town website. They talked about the possibility of having a booth at the Fleming Fall Festival with information cards available about the Town website and the Facebook page along with magnets and perhaps a cookie. Einspahr reported to the Council about the meeting she had with Gapter and asked for a budget of $650. A motion was made and seconded to approve a budget of $650 for the booth at the fall festival, all voted and the motion passed.

Executive Session: At 6:58 p.m. a motion was made by Betley and seconded by Stone to enter into Executive Session according to Section 24-6-402(4)(f) C.R.S. for the purpose of a personnel matter regarding an employee, all voted and the motion passed.

At 7:13 p.m. a motion was made by Betley and seconded by Stone to conclude the Executive Session and return to the regular meeting, all voted and the motion passed.

Beck lead the discussion about needing a third maintenance person. It was decided to setup interviews on Sept. 3. The Interview Committee will consist of Stone, Betley, Lowe and Beck.

Discussion Items: Lowe talked about the Enforcement Committee’s plan to look through the ordinances, concentrating on an ordinance a month. September’s ordinance is parking and storage of abandoned automobiles.

Upcoming Meetings: Town Council meeting on Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Adjournment: A motion was made and seconded to adjourn at 7:30 p.m., all voted and the motion passed.
