October 13, 2021

Three games remain on Fleming’s regular-season agenda and the Wildcats remain on top in 6-man’s North League. Their most recent victory over Briggsdale puts in them in number-five slot according to the Colorado High School Activities Association’s ratings percentage index 6-man standings. Teams listed ahead of the Wildcats in RPI standings include Stratton, Cheyenne Wells, Granada and Idalia.

Fleming hosted the Briggsdale Falcons for last Friday night’s outing. When dust settled, the Wildcats came out on top with a 54-21 victory.

The Wildcat offense proved effective both on the ground and in the air for the night. Fleming’s ball carriers netted 209 total yards.

Junior Nolan Japp led Fleming’s rushing efforts with 211 yards. He averaged 11.7 yards per carry on 18 trips with the ball and scored four touchdowns on the ground.

Senior Hayden Burr followed with 21 total yards. He carried the ball three times averaging seven yards per carry.

Fleming’s offense tacked on another 185 yards in the air. Senior Joel Muller led the Wildcat receivers with 84 yards. He caught four passes and scored two touchdowns.

Burr followed with 54 receiving yards. He grabbed two passes — one of those for six points.

Freshman Wyatt Cochran caught one pass for a 41-yard Wildcat gain.

Junior quarterback Braylen Feather was on the throwing end of all of the Wildcats’ completed passes. He completed eight of 11 attempts for three TDs. He finished the game with a QB rating of 154.4.

Burr led the home-team defense with 13 total tackles. He brought down nine solo and four assisted with four of his tackles for lost yardage. He also added one sack for seven lost yards.

Junior Kolten Houser followed with 12 tackles; nine solo and three assisted. He earned three tackles for a loss.

Japp and junior Blake Feather also tallied double digits in the tackle column. Both players brought down 11 total; split at four solo and seven assisted. Two of Japp’s tackles resulted in lost Falcon yardage.

Japp’s four touchdowns put him in the top spot on the scoreboard with 24 points. Muller and junior kicker Kenny Bandy also hit double digits in scoring. Muller added 12 off two TDs. Bandy went five for seven on points after kicks for 10 points. Burr added six on a TD and Houser rounded out the tally with a two-point safety.

This Friday’s action keeps Fleming on their home field with a league game against Prairie. The contest marks the final league contest of the season for the Wildcats.

The Prairie Mustangs enter at 5-2 on the year with losses to Stratton and Idalia. The contest will squash one team’s perfect league record as both stand at 5-0 in the North League.

Game time on Friday, Oct. 15, is set for 7 p.m.
