The reason for their early arising was that a fleet of 11 trucks drove to 14 miles northeast of Oshkosh, Neb., and brought back between 40-45 tons of prairie hay and stacked it in the Hutts' feed yard for his cattle. Those furnishing trucks were Ernest Livingston, Rex Meakins, Willard Hart, Harold Pond, Virgil Kinzie, Fred Heaston, Orville Zimmerman, Ray Nimmo, Eldred Atkins, Jack Kennedy, Eugene Hutt, and Floyd Thayer. Others who assisted were Joe Moon, Ernie Stryker, Ellis Augenstein, Burt Thomas, and Duane Hutt. After the hay was unloaded, Mrs. Hutt, assisted by Mrs. Harold Pond, served coffee, cake and salad to the men.
