Upon arrival of a Deputy, another vehicle was on scene, with two individuals and the stolen vehicle. As the Deputy began to give commands to the individuals, they got into a silver car, backed up rapidly almost striking the Deputy. The vehicle then pulled forward, as it began to flee the scene, the driver again almost struck the Deputy, who had to move out of the way to keep from being hit.

A motor vehicle pursuit was initiated westbound on Highway 14. The vehicle began traveling south on Highway 52 into Morgan County, where the Colorado State Patrol was able to successfully use spike strips on the vehicle.

The vehicle came to a stop a short time later and the two individuals were taken into custody for numerous charges to include: Criminal Attempt-First Degree Assault, Vehicular Eluding and Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft.

The two individuals were identified as Ernesto Baray, age 39, and Evelyn Wahlmeier, age 18. The stolen vehicle that had been left on scene was stolen on Saturday from Ft. Collins. The owner has been contacted about the vehicle.
