HAXTUN ELEMENTARY student Skylor Scheffer builds a shoebox gift online with help from Teacher Laurie Wilcox for the annual Operation Christmas Child project. Students had the opportunity to choose gifts and supplies for the boxes online while also including a note for the child who receives it.

Wilcox traveled to the main Samaritan's Purse Center in Charlotte, N.C. where thousands of boxes have been packed for the project. Boxes built online will to go the most remote and needy areas of the world. Even though shoe box collection week is over, the online option is still available by visiting samaritanspurse.org and clicking Build a Box. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 188 million shoe boxes to children in need in more than 170 countries and territories.
