A pretty Easter wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Cronquist Sunday afternoon when their daughter, Miss Lillian, became the bride of Mr. Carol Lydin. The ceremony was performed at three o'clock by the Rev. E.W. Fondell, pastor of the Fairfield church.

A new fire truck and equipment purchased by the town some months ago, will be delivered to the Haxtun Volunteer Fire Department here next Monday.

Philorado News - Miss Ethelyn Starkebaum had a little Easter party for her scholars Friday afternoon.

North Rockland News - A miscellaneous show was given at the home of George Hillyer on Thursday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Jim Drake. Those present were Mrs. Harold Becker, Mrs. Eric Hartman, Mrs. John Fetzer, Mrs. Ed Schachterle, Mrs. Arthur Schachterle, Mrs. Albert Curtis, Mrs. John Hurst, Mrs. Ellsworth Gibbs and Dorothy Becker.

The seniors of Haxtun High School will present their class play "The Clock Struck Twelve," on April 4. Cast: Stanley Clark, Shirley Cauble, Darlene Fisbeck, Doris Falk, Helen Esch, Donald Faules, Dola Meakins, Roy Lindgren and Glenn Skold.

Fleming News - The junior class play, "The Daffy Dills," was presented March 29 under the direction of Phillip Johnson. Cast: Johnny Andrews, Elsie Burnheide, Eddie Lousberg, Dolores Frank, Dean Lousberg, Ellen Mollohan, Joan Fitzjohn, JoAnn Sonnenberg, Alice Parks, Roy Wheeler, Vickie Waln and Glen McGuinnis.

Miss Patricia Buck of Haxtun, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C.W. Buck, was chosen for membership in the University of Colorado's business scholarship honor society.

Clarkville News - Mr. and Mrs. Art Palmer and family attended the literary at Rockland Thursday night.

An unidentified sniper drove through Holyoke early Friday morning and shot out 23 vehicle and three office windows, according to Holyoke police officials.

Paoli News - Mr. and Mrs. Terry Pocock and family were supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Smith and family on Thursday evening.

Births: Christin Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Johnson, Lincoln, Neb., Feb. 24, 1977.

Alvin Schumann is celebrating 16 years of business in Haxtun with the Haxtun Shoe Shop downtown.

Fairfield News - Mr. and Mrs. Stormy Baker and children spent several days at the Gilbert Anderson's last week during and after the severe snowstorm.

April 2, 1992

The grand-prize winner of the drawing held for the 60th anniversary of Affiliated Grocery stores was Haxtunite Mary Hart. Haxtun Super sponsored the contest in Haxtun. The grand prize is $50 with of groceries each week for a year. Mrs. Hart plans to give part of her winnings to the Community Food Basket. Mrs. Hart won out of entries in 453 stores in eight states.

The stack of hats gets taller as more candidates enter the county commissioners' race: Harold Hadeen, Gary Campbell and Dick Fryrear have joined the race along with John Sullivan, who announced last week.

Haxtun School Board members unanimously voted not to join the Colorado Association of School Boards during last Monday's meeting. Dr. Jack Pendar, Superintendent, said the no vote came with no discussion, but it follows several months of studying the organization by members.

Sarah Felzien, Fleming, earned Judge's Choice at the High Plains Art Exhibit this year in Sterling.

Matt Wilcox, as Huck Finn, talks to Cyrus Duell, one of the boys, and Gordon Smith, as Sheriff Bell, while trying to hide his friend Jim, played by Trey Bivins. Haxtun High School students and community members presented "Big River" on Friday and Saturday night under the direction of Doug Kamery and Jeri Anderson.
