Lady Wildcat track team takes first place at league meet on Wednesday

FLEMING'S LADY WILDCAT track team earned a first place finish in the North Central League Track Meet held Wednesday, May 6 in Brush. Wildcat tracksters competed in two meets over the past week. The girls' team earned a first place finish at Brush in the North Central League Meet on Wednesday, May 4, with 154 points. The Lady Wildcats took first through fourth place finishes in all of their events throughout the day on Wednesday.
The boys team finished the day at Brush with 34 points for a fifth place finish. They took several top-10 places in their events.
Top-10 placers from the League Track Meet are as follows:
Girls
100-meter dash: Zoey Vandenbark, first place, 13.76; Whitney Chintala, second, 14.08.
200-meter dash: Kally Kirkwood, first, 27.83; Maddy Zink, fourth, 33.76.
400-meter dash: Kirkwood, first, 1:01.61.
800-meter run: Madi Serrato, first, 2:51.10.
1,600-meter run: Serrato, first, 6:25.79.
Four-by-100-meter relay: Team of Lexi Schaefer, Chintala, Kirkwood and Vandenbark, first, 54.35.
Four-by-200-meter relay: Team of Schaefer, Chintala, Kirkwood and Vandenbark, first, 1:53.46.
800-meter sprint medley: Team of Schaefer, Chintala, Vandenbark and Maddy Harms, first, 2:03.24.
Four-by-400-meter relay: Team of Maddy Zink, Harms, Serrato and Laney Schliesser, first, 5:07.10.
Four-by-800-meter relay: Team of Zink, Harms, Serrato and Schliesser, first, 12:46.22.
Triple jump: Schaefer, first, 32 feet, five inches.
Discus: Schliesser, second, 57 feet, nine inches.
Shot put: Schliesser, first, 25 feet, 8.5 inches; Harms, second, 24 feet, nine inches; Zink, third, 24 feet, 1.5 inches.
Boys
100-meter dash: Caid Welch, eighth, 14.80.
200-meter dash: Welch, ninth, 32.27.
800-meter run: Beau Ashburn, fourth, 2:36.80.
1,600-meter run: Ashburn, fourth, 6:01.84.
110-meter hurdles: Jack Bornhoft, fourth, 21.89.
300-meter hurdles: Bornhoft, third, 54.07.
Four-by-100-meter relay: Team of David Betley, Welch, Ashburn and Bornhoft, second, 59.51.
Four-by-400-meter relay: Team of Betley, Welch, Ashburn and Bornhoft, second, 5:03.33.
Shot put: Betley, seventh, 28 feet, nine inches.
On Friday, May 6, the Wildcat track team traveled to Holyoke where they competed in the HWAY Invitational. Top-10 placers from that meet are as follows:
Girls
100-meter dash: Vandenbark, first, 13.72.
DAVID BETLEY hands off to Caid Welch in the four-by-100-meter relay at the North Central League Track Meet held last Wednesday in Brush. The relay team, which also included Beau Ashburn and Jack Bornhoft, earned second place.
200-meter dash: Kirkwood, first, 27.55; Vandenbark, second, 28.15; Harms, sixth, 30.36.
400-meter dash: Kirkwood, first, 1:01.03; Harms, fourth, 1:06.23.
Four-by-100-meter relay team: First, 53.02.
Long jump: Schaefer, second, 15 feet, 2.25 inches.
Triple jump: Schaefer, second, 31 feet, seven inches.
Shot put: Chintala, eighth, 29 feet, three inches.
Boys
1,600-meter run: Ashburn, second, 5:38.66.
110-meter hurdles: Bornhoft, 10th, 22.87.
300-meter hurdles: Bornhoft, seventh, 56.48.
