CAROLINE NEWTH, head nurse at Haxtun Hospital presents a corsage to Betty Ridenour and a boutenniere to Dr. Ridenour at a retirement dinner held in his honor this past Sunday. Dr. Ridenour retired effective May 31, 1987.

June 9, 1937

Haxtun was assured a new high school auditorium and gymnasium building Monday when voters decided in favor of the bond issues that will supplement a federal grant to construct the new addition. According to unofficial returns from the 38 school districts, the majority in favor of the proposition was 55 votes.

McCoy Wisdom was engaged as city lineman in Haxtun at the regular meeting of the town council last Monday evening. He will replace Roy Albershardt, who recently entered his resignation with the city.

June 11, 1952

Hospital News - Mr. and Mrs. Burrell Monroe of Fleming are the parents of a son born Tuesday. He has been named Dennis Allen.

Haxtun lost another of its citizens Thursday when Ray C. McConnell passed away in a Denver hospital following a short illness. Survivors include his wife, Anna Helen Ehrman McConnell an his son, Howard Ray. He was one of 11 children.

June 9, 1977

Bonnie Dunbar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Dunbar of Haxtun, and the granddaughter of Abner Dunbar, will receive her Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Tennessee on June 10. She has concentrated her studies in the field of reproductive biology.

Groundbreaking ceremonies for the new $100,000 Haxtun Medical Center should commence by July 1, according to Keith Gilliland, chairmand of the Haxtun Medical Center Board. Clifford Cronin, hospital administrator, will make space available at the hospital for Drs. James Ley and Robert A. Marlow to practice until the medical center is completed.

Fleming News - Cindy Pyle was pianist at the Fleming UM Church Sunday. Barbara Wiebers accompanied her twin sisters Arlene and Darlene as they sang a duet, "For His Love."

Linda Kay Roos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R. Roos of Sedgwick, recently graduated from the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver, with a bachelor of science degree in medical technology, with distinction.

Kaitlin Anne Hansberry, Haxtun, received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Interdisciplinary Studies - Elementary Education Teaching Concentration from the University of Northern Colorado during graduation ceremonies held May 5 at Nottingham Field in Greeley.

Haxtun and Fleming football players, Luke Davis, Cole Fix, Cody Fix, Andrew Lightsey, Casey Henry and Alex Haney played in the 6-8-Man All-State Football game on Saturday in LaJunta.
