Phillips County's 2022 Fair dubbed "Country Pride, County Wide" set to kick off on Monday, July 25 in Holyoke

 


The 2022 Phillips County Fair kicks off next week with promises of lots of livestock shows, general projects, barrel racing, rodeos, a parade, stock car races, Bulls Gone Wild and much more. This year’s Phillips County Fair kicks off on Monday, July 25 with 4-H interviews and barrel racing and horse shows to follow the following day. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday will see more action with stalling of animals and the rest of the week’s events.

“Country Pride, County Wide is the theme for the 2022 Phillips County Fair slated for July 25-31 at the Fairgrounds in Holyoke. This year’s event honors Grand Marshals Harlan and Mona Stern of Holyoke.

Harlan and Mona moved to Holyoke in March of 1978. Harlan served as General Manager and Chief Executive Officer for Holyoke Coop beginning in 1978 and subsequently for Grainland Cooperative until his retirement in July 2009.

He served on numerous agricultural and community committees and board including the Colorado Cooperative Council and the Colorado grain and Feed Association. Harlan was also a National Grain and Feed Arbitrator. Additionally, he served on the Melissa Memorial Hospital board for four and a half years and was a Phillips County Commissioner for eight years.

Mona worked at Scheunemann’s Department Store and then was a contract mail carrier on the Wages route for over 30 years.
