A warning was issued by city officials this week that autoists must observe speed regulations when entering the town on various highways. The 25-mile speed limit will be enforced in the future, it is said.

Friends will be interested to learn of the marriage on July 1 of C.H. Edgar of Paoli and Mrs. JoAnn Sage of The Dalles, Oregon. The wedding took place at Wray. Mr. Edgar is prominently known in Phillips County, having lived here a number of years. Mrs. Edgar went to Paoli about a month ago to visit her brother-in-law, Mr. Edgar, and daughter Neva. Mrs. Edgar is the sister of the late Mrs. Edgar. They will continue to live on the farm east of Paoli.

July 23, 1952

Col. George Kinzie, USAF, with the Military Air Transport Service, headquarters at Washington, D.C., since July 1949, has left his Washington post to assume duty as senior state air instructor for the Colorado Air National Guard with headquarters at Buckley Field, Denver. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Kinzie of Haxtun.

Fleming News— Miss Dolores and Arlyn Rowan returned Sunday from Albequerque where they had gone Tuesday to visit their sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Mock. Dolores left Tuesday morning for Cheyenne to spend Frontier Days with school friends Misses Kathy Meads and Mary Snedecker.

Ron Liufau has been selected by the Colorado Football Coaches’ Association to represent Haxtun High School and the Lower Platte Activities Association in the 1977 All-State Football game in Jeffco Stadium on Aug. 12. To help defray the cost of room and board during the 10-day practice period, each player must raise $200. Donations may be left at the Haxtun Community Bank.

The Haxtun Hospital and Medical Center boards reported Tuesday night they have received more than $8,000 in contributions from 52 clubs, organizations and individuals in the campaign to build a new medical center in Haxtun. The boards are seeking a goal of $50,000 in donations.

Jay Dean Krueger, Democratic candidate for Commissioner Dist. 1 in the Aug. 11 primary elections.

The Haxtun Town Board enacted a five-member planning and zoning committee at its last meeting. Members are Mayor Gay McDaniel, Everitt McConnell, J.B. Hoadley, Wilma Yost and Ellie Jeffers.

Haxtun Coop Elevator was vandalized over the weekend, according to a report by Haxtun police officer Wayne Starner. No charges have been filed as yet. On Friday, July 17, four individuals climbed to the top of the elevator on the outside ladder. At the top, they broke 14 windows, threw a fire extinguisher off and threw down two manhole covers that cover the grain in. Coop Manager Randy Robeson said he was very impressed with the way police officer Wayne Starner handled the investigative work.
