Lawrence Huss

Lawrence "Larry" Huss passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022 in Brush at the age of 78.

Larry was born May 12, 1944 in Sterling to Jacob and Henrietta (Hoozee) Huss. He attended school in Crook from first grade until graduating from Crook High School in May of 1962. Larry worked as a farmer and rural route mail carrier. On Feb. 20, 1965 Larry married his high school sweetheart Dolly Lauer in Iliff. Larry and Dolly have been together since their first date at the Crook High School Snowball Dance their sophomore year. They were crowned Homecoming King and Queen as seniors and were married for over 57 years.

Larry had a strong Catholic faith and a humble approach to life. He was a lifelong member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Crook. He enjoyed the outdoors, watching the Broncos, having coffee with friends and took pride in his yearly zinnia flower garden. Most of all Larry loved supporting and watching his grandkids in all of their activities and spending time with family, playing pitch and enjoying Dolly's homemade cooking and baking-especially blackberry pie!

Larry is survived by his wife Dolly Huss, Crook; children Lisa and husband Bob Dattore, Broomfield, daughter Dena and husband Rich Gerk, Haxtun, and Dave and wife Jamie Huss, Iliff; grandchildren Emily and husband Patrick Stevens, Houston, Texas, Eric Dattore, Denver, Jake Gerk, Severence, Megan Gerk, Severance, Joey Gerk, Haxtun, Michael Gerk, Haxtun, Taylor Huss, Cheyenne, Wyo., Peyton Huss, Illiff, Dylan Huss, Iliff, and Karsyn Huss, Iliff; one great-grandchild due in October; brothers Don and wife Joan Huss, Joe and wife Dian Huss, Tom and wife Brenda Huss, and Gary and wife Joyce Huss; sister Joanne and husband Steve Parry; aunt Suzy Gertgel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Jacob and Henrietta; brother Jim Huss; father and mother in-law Albert and Mollie Lauer; and numerous in-laws.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 3 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Michael Bodzioch celebrating. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery.
