The Haxtun Bulldogs dominated the Caliche Buffaloes on Friday night, hammering out their second league win of the season. Haxtun stomped the Buffs on the road last week, advancing to 6-0 while handing Caliche their second loss of the season. The Buffs suffered a loss the week before to the Sedgwick County Cougars leaving them 4-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs scored on their first drive of the game with an 18-yard pass from Quarterback Ryland Wolff to tight end Keegan Colglazier for the first six points of the game. Senior running back Michael Gerk got the call for the two-point conversion and punched it in to put the Bulldogs on top, 8-0 early. Haxtun held the Buffaloes on their first possession, forcing the home team to punt the ball away. A series of flags resulting in the loss of yards pushed the Bulldogs back several times in their second offensive drive, but the team managed to overcome the obstacles and with seven and a half minutes left on the clock still in the first quarter, Gerk found an opening for a five-yard rushing touchdown to give the Bulldogs a larger advantage. Junior running back Kailin Kelley added the two-points following and Haxtun was up, 16-0. With just under a minute left to play in the initial 12 minutes, Caliche drove down and scored from the one yard line and added the two-point conversation for their first, and what would be their only, eight points of the game.

Haxtun opened the second quarter with a pass from Wolff to senior receiver Kyle Fryrear for a 28-yard touchdown. Just two minutes later, it was Gerk again, this time with a 28-yard run into the end zone. He took care of the two-points after on his own to up the Bulldogs spread by eight. With under seven minutes left to play, senior guard Gehrig Thompson got the call for a one-yard run resulting in a touchdown with two points after from the Wolff, Fryrear duo. At that point, Haxtun held a 30-point advantage over the Buffaloes. With just 32 second left on the clock before half time, Ryan Davis came up with a fumble recovery in the endzone to give Haxtun another touchdown and ultimately a 46-8 advantage at the half.

The Bulldogs scored twice more, once from Wolff with a 35-yard run and a second time with a five-yard run from senior Kristopher Hadeen to leave the final score 58-8 in a stomping of the Buffaloes in their annual homecoming contest. The win gives the Bulldogs a perfect 6-0 record this season.

Total, Haxtun completed 11 first downs in a total of 33 plays. The Bulldogs suffered five penalties resulting in a loss of 50 yards. Many of those came from the first two drives in the contest.

Under center, Wolff connected with six of 10 passes for a 156 yards in the air and two touchdowns. Kelley caught three of Wolff's passes for a total of 81 receiving yards. Colglazier nabbed one 28-yard pass and a touchdown in the air as did Fryrear. His receiving TD came from a 28 yard pass. Total, the Bulldogs racked up 151 yards in the air on offense.

On the ground, Haxtun registered 356 rushing yards led by Gerk with 187. He carried the ball 14 times for an average of 13.4 yards per carry. He also scored two rushing touchdowns. Wolff tallied 74 yards off six carries including one trip to the end zone. He averaged 12.3 yards per carry. Kelley carried the ball three times for 46 yards.

As a team, the Bulldogs racked up 82 total tackles led by Gerk, Wolff, Kelley and Brandon Nall, each with 11. Ryan Davis added 10 tackles followed by Colglazier with eight and Mason Bornhoft with six. Nall and Davis each registered a sack on the Caliche quarterback.

This week the Bulldogs are set to face off with Dayspring Christian Academy at home on Friday night. Kick off at Adam Wernsman Field is slated for 7 p.m. According to MaxPreps, DCA is 3-3 overall with wins over Byers, Front Range Christian and Hayden. The team recently lost to Merino, 36-20.
